Host: Angelika Sadar

Expert Presenter: Rogene M. Eichler West, Ph.D., QEEGD

Program Title: What new insights AI can tell us about how PTSD lives in the brain

Program Description:

There has been a great deal of attention in the news paid to emerging applications in artificial intelligence and machine learning. These algorithms are ubiquitous in most of the technologies we commonly use – but also are increasingly applied to clinical data to discover patterns that might otherwise be overlooked. This talk will review how these algorithms are being used to discover and classify markers associated with PTSD in EEG and MRI data. We will consider how this approach is complementary to traditional statistical approaches to analysis. But most importantly, we will concern ourselves with how these emerging technologies may benefit mental health clinicians on the frontlines of trauma treatment.
