Program Title: Neurofeedback for Affect Regulation in Developmental Trauma

Program Description:

Sebern Fisher, M.A., LMH, BCN is a clinician, teacher, mentor, author, and leader in the field of neurofeedback.  Her book, Neurofeedback in the Treatment of Developmental Trauma: Calming the Fear-Driven Brain, is a must-read for any neurofeedback clinicians who are working with developmental trauma.  In this book, Sebern shares her experiences with neurofeedback and the importance of secure attachment throughout the lifespan.  In this lecture, we will learn how to better understand the complexities of the brain related to trauma.

Topics covered during the Seminar include:

  • Describe the failure of affect regulation as central to the dilemma of developmental trauma
  • Assess the arousal issues of a given brain/nervous system
  • Use neurofeedback protocols that address affect regulation

Presented by

Sebern Fisher, MA, LMH, BCN

Expert Presenter

Sebern Fisher is a psychotherapist and pioneer of neurofeedback who specializes in the aftermath of neglect and abuse in early childhood. She focuses on training the traumatized brain to learn its own regulation and maintains that you can recover from trauma at any age. She trains professionals nationally and internationally on neurofeedback and on the need to integrate neurofeedback with psychotherapy. Her book, Neurofeedback in the Treatment of Developmental Trauma: Calming the Fear-Driven Brain, has helped her readers understand how the traumatized brain can give rise to explosive feelings, irrational thinking and destructive behavior. When the brain learns its own regulation, its owner can engage meaningfully in psychotherapy and in life.
