What’s Next for Research

The Trauma Research Foundation is preparing to launch bold new initiatives that bring research and practice closer together. These efforts will foster collaboration across disciplines, ensure that new knowledge reaches the people who need it, and spark innovation in how we understand and treat trauma.

Our Research Institute will take on the tough, often overlooked questions in the field — supporting projects, populations, and ideas that traditional funding too often leaves behind. By creating spaces for mentorship, scholarship, and global exchange, we aim to accelerate progress and open new possibilities for healing.

The Institute

The Trauma Research Foundation’s Research Institute will host cohort-based, mentored, and funded scholarship to advance breakthrough ideas in trauma science and practice. Its two programs will be:

  • The Research Catalyzer — building a vibrant community of scholars and practitioners pushing the field of trauma knowledge to new bounds.
  • The Nonprofit Fortifier — strengthening the evidence base for community-based trauma treatment and expanding the reach of promising practices.

Scientific Advisory Council

The Scientific Advisory Council will bring together leading voices from across the field to set strategy, shape funding priorities, and guide the Foundation’s research direction. By producing influential position papers, toolkits, and other deliverables, the Council will drive the field toward deeper understanding and higher-quality practice — while giving funders a clear pathway to invest in transformative change.
